"Fantastic product!" review by Sandy

I started using the gro-clock when my son was only 15months old so this can be used a lot earlier than 2yrs. He was a bit too young to understand the story so instead I developed my own routine to introduce the clock - with a few days it was working!!

I now take this on holiday with me too so my son can quickly adjust to new time zones......absolutely amazing product. I would highly recommend it!! (Posted on 19/04/2012)

"Toddler Best Buy" review by ljacks

Cannot recommend enough. First night results! Think our hype about her special new clock and the story helped and we did have a settling in period where she would wake early and need us to go in and remind her to wait until the sun comes up. Love the 2 settings (we have 7am weekdays and 7.30 weekends)! So much better than Cars clock we bought for son as it didn't have the proper time and went through batteries like no tomorrow and made a scary sound when it went off waking him with a start and worse still when batteries ran out in the middle of the night it woke him up! Will buy a Gro Clock for the next friend to have a baby for sure. (Posted on 19/04/2012)

"Fab. works a treat after a few weeks!" review by pinkdiamond

I got this clock as my son was waking up at 6am, it didn't work immediately but after a few weeks of us waiting in his bed until the sun came up he got it and now wakes up and shouts 'the suns come up!' Would recommend for 2yrs + (Posted on 18/08/2011)

"Why didn't I buy one sooner?!?" review by Angela
Quality
This clock is amazing. I took me a while to order one as it isn't cheap for a clock but now I am so glad I did. My son now stays in bed until the sun comes out (and sometimes later!), which gives him two very happy parents. And the book that accompanies the clock is excellent. Worth every penny. Fantastic. Thank you! (Posted on 10/07/2011)

This clock is amazing! Exactly what I was looking for. It shows the time for adults as well as showing a basic difference between sleep time and wake time for a child. I recommend this highly! (Posted on 07/07/2011)

"Amazing" review by Naomi

I bought this clock around a year ago when my daughter moved into a bed and discovered she could get out and would wake quite early and up she would get. Love the book that comes with it as it explains how the clock works. My daughter was able to tell the story not long after I got the clock and knows that she can't get up until the sun. "fantastic, amazing, 100%successful product!!!!" review by mummyjules

had been thinking about buying this product for some time but wasn't sure if it was just an expensive gimmick. how wrong could i be. our 2 1/2yr old has always been an early riser and 7am is a lie in. however after months of waking at 6am or sometimes before i took action and ordered the clock. hallelujah!! within a week she was telling everyone about her new clock and had to do 'show and tell'. we started with 6.30am starts as recommended by a previous reviewer so she wouldnt get disheartened and are already up to 7am with her sleepinng past that on several mornings. 100%recommend this product. well done gro group. "Done it again!" review by Mary
Quality
The people at Gro have done it again! This is the best invention since the Grobag! The Grobag gave us all that sleep for the first 3 years, and now the Gro-clock has taken over the baton, keeping our little one in bed "until the sun". The book's fab too. Thanks again for a wonderful product. I'm recommending it to all my friends.

"Even for older children!" review by Tom
Quality
I purchased this product in the hope that my partners 6 year old, who although lovely, would wake us up at 5am everyday, might be pursuaded to stay in her room or watch CBBies until the 'sun' comes up - and am delighted to report that it works brilliantly! The bags under my eyes are subsiding daily. I highly recommend this product, even for slightly older children!

"Give it time" review by Veronica
Quality
FANTASTIC - but give it time ! Started this clock on my 2 yr 1 week old little boy, who woke us up anything from 4.30 am ! At first nothing happened although he loved having a clock by his bed and watching the moon go to sleep. After a week we ended up setting the time so that the sun came on before he woke, to give him the confidence the sun would come. We then changed the time by 20 mins and again for a week he woke up after the sun ! Changed the time again by 10 mins and if he wakes up and sees the moon he goes back to sleep ! He is so proud and happy when he wakes up and sees the sun and shouts, time to wake up ! Really does work, just dont expect it to work the first night, fantastic product, would highly highly reccommend ! Thank you !

"my sun has come up!" review by Fiona
Quality
We bought this for our son for his 4th birthday, despite my husband's scepticism that he was too old for it. After a coupe of weeks he had got the idea and now consistently stays in his room until "my sun has come up, Mummy." No more shouting "Can I get up yet?!" to wake his little sister. He adores the sun on the clock and his sister (21m) is jealous of the clock. I think we are going to need another. The digital feature on the new version would be fab.

"Excellent" review by Sonia
Quality
This clock and book are an excellent purchase, superb quality and worth the money. I bought this for my son who is nearly 2 about 6 weeks ago, he absolutely loves saying "bye bye sun, good night star" every night and it is now part of his bedtime routine, however he seems to take no notice in the morning and gets up when he wants sometimes before before the sun, sometimes after, hence the 4 star rating. I'm hoping as he gets older it will work for him if we keep pushing it. That said, a great product he loves it and the book.

"Best" review by Hannah
Quality
This is one of the best things I have bought, and I recommend it to all my friends. Our 3 year old was waking up very early, and we realised it was because he was genuinely confused about the time, particularly over the summer with the very light mornings. We got the Moon/Sun clock, and each night he loves saying goodbye to the sun and telling it what he has done that day. He always waits for the sun in the morning before getting up now. I also give him a sticker for his reward chart every morning that he waits for the sun, as an added incentive! Great idea and worth every single penny!

"Love this" review by Claire
Quality
We love this clock, our daughter stays in her room until the sun comes up even if she has been awake for ages! We have the older version with the moon rather than the star. I'm not sure why you have changed it, it makes more sense to be a moon and the sun surely? Bit disappointed on that as we want to buy one for our youngest daughter! Either way it is a great product!

"Wakey" review by Ciara
Quality
Fantastic product. My girls were getting up from 5.30am onwards to check if it was 'wakey time'. Since introducing this clock they stay in bed until the sun comes up. They love their clocks. I must admit I do find them on the expensive side. Especially when I had to buy two as they've a bedroom each.

Questions on Gro-clock
  • From E. Scott at 30/09/2011 14:06
    • Is it possible to have the clock completely dark at nighttime but still be set to come on in the morning?
    • Dear Scott

Unfortunately there is not a facility for this, the idea is that no matter what time your little one wakes up, if there are stars left on the blue night time screen they will learn to understand it if not yet time to wake up and get out of bed.

      Kind Regards

  • From Tracey at 04/09/2011 21:17
    • I have purchased the gro clock and am not sure if it is working properly. I have to manual get the moon to appear at 6.30.
Is this right or have i set it up wrong.

      Thank You
    • Dear Tracey

I can confirm that the Gro clock night time mode will need to be activated every night at bed time. This is to help your little one to understand that it is time for sleep and the "Sleepy Farm" book should help explain this to them.

Once the time you wish the Gro Clock to wake up in the morning has been set, simply press DOWN to see a large yellow sun with a small flashing star icon then press ENTER and the Gro Clock will turn into the night time mode and will show all of the stars. Once this happens you can leave it overnight, the stars will disappear and it will show the sun at the time you have set it for.

      I hope this helps

      Kind Regards

      The Gro Store Team.

    • I am a U.S. resident who would really love to purchase the Gro-clock for my 5am waker! Do you know if this product can be adapted for the U.S., or what the voltage is? After much research, this seems to be by far the best product of it's kind. Thanks so much for any help you can provide!
    • Hi Kelli,

The Gro Clock comes with a UK mains adaptor with the voltage difference between the Uk and the USA the features on the clock will not operate correctly.

      Regards
      Michael
    • Dear Michael,

The Gro Clock comes with a UK mains adapter. You should be able to use it in France but you may need to use a travel adapter to get it to work as the lead plugs into the back of the Gro clock and the plug is sealed.

I hope that this information is of assistance to you.

    • Is it possible to obtain a new copy of the Sleepy Farm book - our daughter loves both the clock and the story and insists on reading the story twice before going to sleep.

Unfortunately she has just ripped a large number of pages and its not repairable.

Can we get a new copy?

      Many thanks

Ask Your Own Question

If the power is turned off, does the clock remember the correct time?

When the power goes off, the clock ‘freezes’ all the settings, including the main time, the wake up times and brightness settings. Therefore if the power goes off for a few seconds and then back on, the time will have been paused for a few seconds. However if the power was off say for 3 hours, then the time will be out by 3 hours and will therefore need re–setting.

If I need to keep the power on to maintain the correct time, should I worry about electricity consumption?

No, your clock uses LEDs so it’s naturally energy efficient. However it also has a built–in energy saving mode. One hour after the wake up time has activated, the clock automatically turns off coloured LED lights and runs on a tiny amount of electricity. To re–activate just press any key and the colour LEDs will come back.

What is the difference between the night–time and day–time nap mode?

In a way they are very similar because the clock works in exactly the same way in both modes. Once activated, the clock will count down and the star will change into the sun at the time set in each mode. The reason there are two modes is so that parents who are putting their children to sleep during the day and at night can have the two different times stored, which saves them from having to re–set the wake up times every session.

Can I make the alarm sound at any time and in any mode?

Yes! The time you set for the alarm is independent of the night–time or day–time nap modes. Therefore you could have the sun coming up silently at 7am and then the alarm sounding at 7.30am.

How do I know if the alarm will sound?

The alarm bell icon appears in the cheek of the sun/star when the alarm is switched on.

How can I stop my child from playing with buttons and changing the settings?

Very easily, by using the key–lock function, which is similar to the function on mobile phones.

Is there a demo mode so I can show my child how it changes from the sun to Mr Star?

Yes! There is a built–in demo mode which runs through all the sun and Mr Star transitions. To set the Demo mode on, just press and hold the UP button for three seconds and the clock will show all the transitions on a continuous loop. To turn off the Demo mode, simply press and hold the UP button for three seconds.

My screen has frozen and is not responding to the controls.

Switch the clock off at the mains, wait a few seconds and switch back on.
